Excuse me if I bother you with so many issues... but I noticed that pid file creation and handling is missing apart the configuration parameter. Due to threading, startup scripts cannot works with autonomous pidfile generation.

As far as I remember, rmilter does not handle its pidfile itself. It uses /usr/sbin/daemon instead.
