I suggest adding the following Glyphs for two new clefs :
String Clef
Behind the Bridge String Clef
These clefs are commonly usued in Contemporary music for string instruments.
One early usage of them (along with the Bridge clef already present in SMuFL) can be found in Lachenmann's "Zwei Gefühle, Musik mit Leonardo" Breitkopf & Härtel, nº PB 5419.
This was discussed in Nicolas Deyoe's "Lachenmann for the conductor : Understanding, Learning and Rehearsing Helmut Lachenmann's "...Zwei Gefühle Musik mit Leonardo", UC San Diego Spring 2008
(excerpt below)
An excerpt from the performance note of Lachenmann's "...Zwei Gefühle..." :
An excerpt from the score :
Christian Dimpker discusses in his book "Extended Notation : The depiction of the unconventional", LIT Verlag 2013, the string clef system although he shows a variation with string names instead of roman numbers which is not ideal since
it would mean each instrument would get its own clef :
The difference between the two clefs is the presence or the absence of the arc below which represents the bridge.
For The design of the Glyph I suggest the following proportions and alignments :
Attached you will find both .svg files for these glyphs :
Thank you,
Jawher Matmati
