It doesn't let me know there's new mail unless I'm there to see the pop-up notification that happens only once just as the message arrives. Otherwise it always looks the same- like Earth from Mars.
Thank you for your report, it is a bug difficult to understand and difficult to fix. The program is supposed to recover the icon of Thunderbird itself. The library unfortunately uses functions whose support seems rather random depending on the systems...
