Edubot is 2-wheel drive mobile robot built from off the shelf components. It is envisioned to be a pocket-friendly alternative to the famous Turtlebot. Its applications are testing path-planning and swarm algorithms at a lab-scale.
The first generation of Edubot is built quick prototyping machines like 3D printers and laser cutters. The CAD files are available at GrabCAD. More details on mechanical contruction and electronics are available in the hardware details page.
There are two layers of programming the Edubot - much like the Turtlebot. The lower hardware level involves programming the microcontroller to drive motors and retrieve sensor data. The higher layer involes programming the on-board computer for communications and making decisions. Specific details are available in their respective pages.
This project was originally started by Bharg Mehta under Prof. Madhu Vadali at SMART, IIT Gandhinagar. Initial funding was provided by IIEC, IIT Gandhinagar. Currently, Souritra Garai, Suraj Borate and Videh Patel are working on the project. We are also looking robot enthusiasts to collaborate in building more robots.
