Para ayudar a personas que estén buscando familiares, vamos a ayudar en el esfuerzo de recopilación de datos de personas que estén sanas y salvas en un refugio o lugar incomunicado. Para lograr esto estamos pidiendo a organizaciones y personas que ya están "on the ground" que nos ayuden a recopilar listas de personas para nosotros añadirlas al Google Person Finder.

TL;DR: Si estas en Puerto Rico y ya en la calle, necesitamos tu ayuda recopilando información (nombres, apellidos, barrios y pueblo) de personas que están bien. Si estás fuera de Puerto Rico y tienes contacto con familia/amigos, se un puente y compila la información (nombres, apellidos, barrio, pueblo) de sus amigos, familia, etc. para que sepamos que están bien.

Puedes enviarnos la lista de nombres en cualquier tipo de formato (escrita o foto) a [email protected].

¿Como puedes ayudar?

Tres maneras:

Desde la calle

IMPORTANTE: EL GOBIERNO HA DEJADO CLARO QUE NADIE DEBE ESTAR EN LA CALLE. NO SALGAS DE TU CASA SOLO PARA RECOPILAR ESTA INFORMACIÓN. SOLO PROCEDE SI YA TIENES UNA RAZÓN PARA ESTAR EN LA CALLE.

Recopila lista de nombres en papel y lápiz o bolígrafo.

  • Recopila lista con nombres,dos apellidos si es posible, pueblo y barrio.

  • Tómale una foto a la lista y envíala a [email protected], por mensaje de texto al 786-789-3099 o Twitter a @matechbrigade.

Si tienes acceso a un app de Notas en tu teléfono o a una computadora, y te es posible, escribe la lista en texto. Esto no es necesario pero agiliza nuestra labor al poder darle copy+paste

Desde tu casa

En resumen:

  1. Riega la voz
  2. Busca listas de personas que ya están siendo posteadas en Facebook o Twitter
  3. Transcribe listas escritas a mano y añade los nombres a nuestra base de datos.
  4. Añade personas que se hayan marcado "safe" en Facebook
  5. Provee soporte técnico a personas que estén transcribiendo o subiendo listas

Riega la voz

Pide a personas/prensa/tv/radio/zello/etc. que se unan a este esfuerzo de recopilar nombres. Envíalos a este link.

En distintos pages de Facebook, TV, radio, etc. riega todo este este mensaje:

María Tech Brigade está buscando listas de personas que estén confirmadas como "encontradas" o "seguras" para añadirlos al Google People Finder. Si ya tienes una lista de refugio o de un vecindario, por favor envíala a [email protected].

Si estás en la calle como rescatista o en otro carácter, por favor, lleva lápiz y papel y recopila nombres (si es posible con dos apellidos), barrio y pueblo. Cuando tengas la lista, envíala a [email protected]. Nosotros nos encargaremos de añadir los nombres a la base de datos de Google.

Si no estás en Puerto Rico, pero has contactado a alguien en la isla que puede recopilar esta información y pasártela, escribe los nombres en lápiz y papel y recopila la misma información mencionada. Si tienes acceso a un app de Notas en tu teléfono o a una computadora, y te es posible, escribe la lista en texto. Esto agiliza nuestra labor al poder darle copy+paste pero no es necesario. Cuando tengas la lista, envíala a [email protected]. Nosotros añadimos los nombres a la base de datos de Google.

Compartiremos la información coleccionada con PRFAA y otras entidades que ya están tratando de conectar a personas incomunicadas con sus seres queridos. Su ayuda será esencial para la calma de miles de familiares y amigos que no han podido encontrar a sus seres queridos.

Busca listas de personas que ya están siendo posteadas en Facebook o Twitter

Busca información en grupos como Puerto Rico Maria Updates, tus amigos que se han reportado bien, etc.

IMPORTANTE: Transcribe listas escritas a mano y añade los nombres a nuestra base de datos.

Los esfuerzos de data entry son múltiples.

¿Cómo ayudarnos a hacer data entry?

Presiona el botón que dice [Join Now] y sigue los pasos indicados para crear tu cuenta de Slack.

Una vez tengas tu usuario de Slack, entra a nuestro espacio de trabajo SoPR y busca el canal #maria-snail-support, preséntate y uno de nuestros miembros se comunicará contigo.

Data Entry

Primera etapa:

Vaya al folder "PARA VOLUNTARIOS": http://bit.ly/2fpm4pD

  • Si tiene lista escrita de nombres, puede pasar a la 3ra etapa.

    • Si necesita ayuda transcribiendo nombres escritos, tómele una foto a la lista y siga leyendo.

  • Si tiene foto de una lista escrita de personas, guarde las fotos en el folder llamado LISTAS

    • Identifique las fotos con un nombre descriptivo:

      • fechaMMDDYY_pueblo_numero.jpg

        • por ejemplo: 092317_AguasBuenas_1.jpg

Segunda etapa:

Escoje una foto para procesar en el folder LISTAS

  • Cámbiale el nombre a la foto siguiendo este protocolo:

    • INPROCESS_iniciales_timeHHmmEST_restodelnombredelafoto

      • ejemplo: INPROCESS_LCM_2054EST_092317_AguasBuenas_1.jpg

    • Esto es sumamente importante para no duplicar esfuerzos.

  • Si notas que una foto tiene INPROCESS time de más de 2 horas (tiempo es EST), TAKE OVER!

Tercera etapa:

Tome la lista de nombres (sea escrita o en una foto) con información de nombre, apellido, pueblo, barrio, y fecha, y llene la información PARA CADA PERSONA en el siguiente formulario:

    • NO VAMOS, BAJO NINGUNA CIRCUNSTANCIA a copiar números de teléfono, correos electrónicos, números de seguro social, u otros datos personales como edad a los récords.

  • Al terminar de procesar la foto, cámbiale el nombre a:

    • PROCESSED_fecha_pueblo_numero.jpg

      • por ejemplo: PROCESSED_092317_AguasBuenas_1.jpg

Añade personas que se hayan marcado "safe" en Facebook

Provee soporte técnico a personas que estén transcribiendo o subiendo listas

Preguntas y Respuestas

¿Y si no puedo leer bien el nombre?

Si la escritura en la foto no es legible, captura toda la información posible. Por ejemplo, si la lista es del barrio Voladoras de Moca, y los apellidos son Ruiz Colón, pero del nombre sólo entiendes que empieza con R, escríbelo así

Nombre Apellido Pueblo Barrio
R Ruiz Colón Moca Voladoras

Si no entiendes un nombre por completo, pásalo.

¿Realmente tengo que escribir mi nombre?

Si -- esto nos permite saber quién transcribió la información.

Me preocupa dar información personal.

Maria Tech Brigade se compromete a no divulgar información personal. Es por esto que estamos pidiendo nombres y apellidos e información general de localización. NO VAMOS BAJO NINGUNA CIRCUNSTANCIA a copiar números de teléfono, correos electrónicos, números de seguro social, u otros datos personales como edad a los récords. En el renglón de comentarios sí escribe comentarios como "y familia", "estamos bien", "e hijos", etc.

To help people who are looking for family members, we will help in the data collection effort of people who are safe and sound in a shelter or in solitary confinement. To achieve this we are asking organizations and individuals who are already "on the ground" to help us compile lists of people for us to add to Google Person Finder.

How can you help?

From the street

IMPORTANT: THE GOVERNMENT HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT NOBODY SHOULD BE ON THE STREET. DO NOT COME OUT OF YOUR HOUSE JUST TO COLLECT THIS INFORMATION, ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A REASON TO BE ON THE STREET

Copy the list of names on paper and pencil or pen

  • Compile the list with names, two surnames if possible, town and neighborhood (barrio).
  • Take a photo of the list and send it to [email protected], by text message at 786-789-3099 or Twitter at @matechbrigade

**If you have access to a Notes app on your phone or computer, and you are able, write the list in text. This is not necessary, but it speeds up our work so we can use copy+paste.

From your home

In summary:

  1. Spread the word!
  2. Look for lists of people that are being posted in Facebook or Twitter.
  3. Transcribe handwritten notes and add names to our database.
  4. Add people and friends who have marked themselves as "safe" in Facebook.
  5. Provide technical support to people who are transcribing or uploading lists.

Spread the word

  • Ask people/press/tv/radio/zello/etc to join this effort to collect names. Send them to this link.

  • In different pages of Facebook, TV, radio, etc. spread this message:

Maria Tech Brigade is looking for lists of people who are confirmed as "found" or "safe" to add to Google People Finder. If you already have a shelter or neighborhood list, please send it to [email protected].

If you are on the street as a rescuer or in another capacity, please take a pencil and paper and collect names (if possible with two surnames), neighborhood and town. When you have the list, send it to [email protected]. We will add the names to the Google database.

If you are not in Puerto Rico, but you have contacted someone on the island who can collect this information and pass it on, write the names in pencil and paper and collect the same information. If you have access to a Notes app on your phone or a computer, and you are able to, write the list in text. This streamlines our work by allowing us copy + paste but it is not mandatory. When you have the list, send it to [email protected]. We will add the names to the Google database.

We will share the information collected with PRFAA and other entities that are already trying to connect people who have no communication with their loved ones. Your help will be essential to help calm thousands of relatives and friends who have not been able to find their loved ones.

Search for lists of people already being posted on Facebook, Twitter or Zello channels

Find information in groups like "Puerto Rico Maria Updates", your friends who have reported as safe, etc.

Look for pictures of lists of people already posted in Zello channels such as "Huracan Mariaa" and send them to us at [email protected] .

VOLUNTEERS

IMPORTANT: Transcribe handwritten lists and add names to our database.

There are multiple ways to support the data entry efforts.

How to help us with data-entry?

Simple, send us a request to join our Slack workspace, by following this link:

Once your Slack account is ready, visit our SoPR workspace and find the #maria-snail-support channel, introduce yourself and one of our members will contact you.

Data Entry

First step:

Go to this link: "FOR VOLUNTEERS" http://bit.ly/2fpm4pD

  • If you have a list of names, you can move on to the 3rd step.

    • If you need help transcribing written names, take a picture of the list and read on.

  • If you have a photo of a written list of people, save the photos in the folder inside "FOR VOLUNTEERS" called "LISTS"

    • Identify photos with a descriptive name:

      • DateMMDDYYY_Town_numero.jpg

      • For example:

        • 092317_AguasBuenas_1.jpg

Second step: Choose a photo to process in the LISTS folder

  • Change the name to the photo following this protocol:

    • INPROCESS_initials_timeHHmmEST_restofphotoname

      • example: INPROCESS_LCM_2054EST_092317_AguasBuenas_1.jpg

    • This is extremely important in order not to duplicate efforts.

  • If you notice that a photo has an INPROCESS timestamp of more than 2 hours (time is EST), TAKE OVER!

Third step:

Take the list of names (either written or in a photo) with information of name, surname, town, neighborhood, and date, and fill in the information FOR EACH PERSON in the following form:

    • WE WILL NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE copy phone numbers, emails, social security numbers or other personal information like age to our records.

  • When you are done processing the photo, change the name to:

    • PROCESSED_date_town_number.jpg

      • example: PROCESSED_092317_AguasBuenas_1.jpg

Add people marked "safe" on Facebook

Provide technical support to people who are transcribing or uploading lists.

Go to sopr-slack.herokuapp.com y enter the #maria-snail-support channel.

Questions and Answers

What if I cannot read a name?

If the handwriting on the photo is not legible, capture as much information as you can. For example, if the list is from Barrio Voladoras in Moca, the last name of a person is Ruiz Colón, but you only understand that the first name starts with an R, write it like this:

If you don't understand anything at all in an entry, pass it.

Do I really have to write my name?

Yes -- this allows us to know who transcribed the information.

I am worried about writing personal information.

Maria Tech Brigade is committed not to divulge personal information. This is why we are asking for first names, surnames and general information about localization. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES we will copy phone numbers, emails, social security numbers, or any other personal information, like age, to our records. Do add comments like "y familia", "estamos bien", etc. ("with family", "we are ok", etc.) to that data field.
