Allows a simple software based synchronization of the cameras. Instead of triggering on arbitrary times, it is bound to the system time (with accuracy 0.1ms) . For example at 5Hz, the camera will be triggered at seconds 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, ...

(+) No extra setup needed
(-) Not as accurate as hardware-sync

Hello @DanBmh
Thank you for your suggestion.
Lots of users are looking after the accuracy of the frame acquisition. So I am not sure it is a good idea to include your changes in the official branches. The camera frame rate must pace the whole process, not the system itself.
