Make sure you see the note editor by pressing F7 or tab until it shows.

The note editor shows which instruments is playing what notes. Each column represents an instrument, and each row represents a point in time.

You put notes in a block by hitting letters or numbers on your keyboard. On a US-keyboard this is the layout:

  • keys Z trough M: whole notes C to B, bottom octave.
  • A-key note end point
  • S trough L: crossed noted C# to C#, bottom octave.
  • Q trough P: whole notes C to E, one octave up
  • 1-key: nothing
  • 2 trough 0: crossed noted C# to D#, one octave up.

You can switch the whole keyboard an octave down with F1 and up with F2

To hear your newly created melody, you first have to set a patch for a track. In other words: define which instrument plays your notes. You can do this in three ways:

  1. click the header of the track (where it says )
  2. hit F12 wth the right track selected
  3. in the menu, choose "Instrument" -> "Set Patch for Track"
