This README file contains information on the contents of the meta-seco-a62 layer. The meta-seco-a62 layer makes easier to use Yocto for preparing a linux image for the SECO SBC-A62 board (http://www.seco.com/prods/it/secosbc-a62.html). The layer provides some customization of the Yocto standard packages in order to workaround some issues that the author has personally faced while preparing a Yocto image for the target system. Actually the layer only provides an image type (named "kiko-image") which is based on "fsl-image-qt5". All the layers have been tested under their respective "dizzy" branch. It is not excluded that the layer definition works using other branches but it has not been tested. Step-by-step guide to image baking ================================================= This is a step-by-step guide to reproduce the same exact image prepared by the author. 1) Download the REPO utils from Google (used by fsl-released-bsp) mkdir ~/bin curl http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/git-repo-downloads/repo > ~/bin/repo chmod a+x ~/bin/repo export PATH=${PATH}:~/bin 2) Download the Freescale BSP and the Yocto system (poky), branch 'dizzy' mkdir ~/fsl-release-bsp cd ~/fsl-release-bsp repo init -u git://git.freescale.com/imx/fsl-arm-yocto-bsp.git -b imx-3.14.28-1.0.0_ga repo sync 3) Download and prepare the meta-seco-bsp-release layer cd ~/fsl-release-bsp/sources git clone https://secogit.seco.com/imx6_release/meta-seco-bsp-release.git cp meta-seco-bsp-release/seco-setup-release.sh ../ cp meta-seco-bsp-release/seco-yocto_configurator.sh ../ 4) Download the meta-seco-a62 layer (this layer) cd ~/fsl-release-bsp/sources git clone https://github.com/morixhub/meta-seco-a62.git 5) Launch SECO yocto configurator tool cd ~/fsl-release-bsp ./seco-yocto_configurator.sh -c Follow the instructions on screen for configuring the compilation but don't start it (simply save & exit without compiling: there are additional configuration steps to be manually performed...) 6) Adjust your conf/bblayers.conf and conf/local.conf Make sure that your "conf/bblayers.conf" contains a reference to all the requested layers; the file should contain something like: BBLAYERS = " \ ${BSPDIR}/sources/poky/meta \ ${BSPDIR}/sources/poky/meta-yocto \ \ ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-openembedded/meta-oe \ ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-openembedded/meta-multimedia \ \ ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-fsl-arm \ ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-fsl-arm-extra \ ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-fsl-demos \ " ## Freescale Yocto Release layer BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-fsl-bsp-release/imx/meta-fsl-arm " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-fsl-bsp-release/imx/meta-fsl-demos " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-browser " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-openembedded/meta-gnome " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-openembedded/meta-networking " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-openembedded/meta-python " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-openembedded/meta-ruby " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-openembedded/meta-filesystems " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-qt5 " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-fsl-bsp-release/imx/meta-fsl-qt5 " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-fsl-bsp-release/imx/meta-fsl-bluez " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-seco-bsp-release/ " BBLAYERS += " ${BSPDIR}/sources/meta-seco-a62/ " meta-seco-a62 works creating a customized distribution named "kiko", so modify your "conf/local.conf" file in order to reference the right distribution; the distro variable should be set to: DISTRO ?= 'kiko-distro' Furthermore, since "chromium" is included in kiko-image, then you have to add: LICENSE_FLAGS_WHITELIST += " commercial" at the very end of "conf/local.conf" Alternatively, it is possible to build the image named "fsl-image-qt5" (which is the one suggested by SECO); in that case the distro should be left to DISTRO ?= 'poky' Browser chromium can simply be added to the "fsl-image-qt5" image simply adding IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " chromium" at the very end of "conf/local.conf" 7) Configure the environment for compilation (the following command is proposed when leaving seco-yocto_configurator.sh at step #5: take down a note!) MACHINE=seco-a62-qd-256mbx4 source seco-setup-release.sh -b seco_build 8) Prepare the image "kiko" image is "baked" issuing the command: bitbake kiko-image - otherwise - "fsl-image-qt5" is "baked" issuing the command: bitbake fsl-image-qt5 Please wait... and wait again... after a few hours the filesystem image will be ready and packaged to tmp/deploy/images and can be deployed to SD card the usual way. 9) Prepare the Qt5 toolchain The Qt5 toolchain is prepared issuing the command: bitbake meta-toolchain-qt5 This will produce an installer in tmp/deploy/sdk which can be used for installing the toolchain on developer machines. At this point QtCreator has to be properly configured in order to use the brand new toolchain (but this part is not covered by this guide). 10) Enjoy! :)
