Several years ago, we collaborated with Katja Fennel to build simple ecosystem spectral light models that use marine water's Inherent Optical Properties (IOPs) for absorption and backscattering at 440nm and 510nm to study the response to algal blooms and compare with remote sensing measurements of chlorophyll.
This GitHub branch includes this model to consolidate ROMS algorithms from svn research repositories, which will become obsolete on January 1, 2025. We may revisit this development in the future.
At this time, we don't recommend using IOP_CDOM or NPZD_IOP models. However, you are welcome to check what we have as a guideline for your IOP-based model.
