The following javascript library is meant to be a string lexing tool set.
All methods in this library are published within the namespace jsStringLexer
.
Currently the following methods are available;
Takes a CSV string and parses it into an array of arrays. Each line is it's own array.
There are a number of different csv to array javascript functions out there but none of them correctly parsed out the data that my client was sending which was slightly off from the known spec.
Example:
jsStringLexer.csv2array('"1","a\\"b\\"c,2","3"');
- 3 columns, second one is "a"b"c,2"jsStringLexer.csv2array('1,2,3');
- simple 3 columnsjsStringLexer.csv2array('"quoted",notquoted,,"last was skipped"');
- Text can be quoted or not quoted, or left out entirelyjsStringLexer.csv2array('"a","b,c","d"');
- commas within a quoted piece are ignored as separatorsjsStringLexer.csv2array('1,2,3\r1,2,3\r');
- simple 3 columns with 2 rows, trailing \r is ignored on last line
You can fork/fix/add/pull request this repo, and I'll gladly add your code ;)
