I built CANdash for myself because I simply wanted a display in front of me when driving our Tesla. It will always be a free and open source product, but that doesn't mean development wasn't free. In addition to buying a CANserver, I bought many, many old Android phones to test compatibility and the process of development and 3D design and scanning took hundreds of hours. I am happy to continue to do this work for my own needs and support contributors who want to make improvements, but since I am happy with my Pixel 2XL configuration it is unlikely I will spend significant time testing on other devices.
Where sponsorship can come in is to support specific testing of a new device or custom design for a 3D printed mount.
There is no expectation of payment, but if you do choose to priovide support, it will help me decide where to take the project next.
Help ongoing development and documentation to make the app more robust and user friendly, so that someone without a lot of technical knowledge can install this for themselves or perhaps a customer and feel confident that they won't have to mess with it. It will also prove that there is a market for this kind of work.
