OCLC Number

We will index the OCLC number for various tasks related to material identification. For example, we can use it to search for book covers via Google Books API and in HathiTrust. It will also be used for ILL linking.
The OCLC number can be found in field 035a
, the system control number. Field 035 may repeat and each entry may contain different data. OCLC numbers can be distinguished by one of the following prefixes:
- OCoLC
- ocn
- ocm
- OCLC
These should be inside parentheses and directly precede the number. Strip out these prefixes to get the number.
