Benefits
The benefits to the client, Bruce MacDonald, are more abstract than tangible. The success of this project would prove to the client that his Software Engineering students can design and simulate a robotic healthcare service using Robot Operating System (ROS). This would benefit him by confirming that his teaching is truly having an impact on his students. A secondary benefit to the client would be the knowledge that the next generation of humans are a step closer to actually implementing a robotic healthcare system to look after him in his twilight years.
Following the progress demo, additional benefits for the client were realised. This includes the ability for the client to successfully indicate that his students meet the graduate profile requirements for:
- Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) Accreditation (NZ Engineering Programmes)
- Washington Accord (International Standards for Engineering Education)
The benefits of project success to the team itself are strictly defined. A well-planned, implemented and presented project will result in A+ grades for all students in the SOFTENG 306 project group.
